WebPeer Support Services will need to be Medi-Cal certified before being able to bill. California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA), in partnership with the County Behavioral Health Plans, is the certifying entity for the state-approved Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification (PSSC) program. WebCertified peer counselors, under the supervision of a behavioral health professional, and as part of a health care team, may: Assist you or your family in identifying services and activities that promote recovery and lead to increased meaning and purpose. Assist you and your family in developing your own goals. Share their own recovery stories.

WebPeer providers can play many roles in support for people living with psychiatric disorders and/or in addiction recovery. They are capable of facilitating education and support groups and working as a bridge linking people to services as they transition from hospitals or jails into the community.
